Hamlet is somewhat like Oedipus. Both of their fathers are dead, though Hamlet didn't kill his.
And they both are overwhelmed with the fact that they did/have to kill someone of importance. The both also go mad by knowing the truth. Hamlet questions his truth whether the ghost of his father is true or not. While Oedipus rips his eyes out once he learns the truth about his actions.
Comparing Hamlet and Oedipus did not even cross my mind once - but your post made me wonder why I didn't see the comparisons between the two! I like how you used the example that they both had dead fathers because that's a very important factor and point of climax in Hamlet and also in Oedipus. Great post!!!
